Uses

Furosemide is used to reduce swelling in the body caused by congestive heart failure, liver disease, or kidney disease.

How to take

Side effects

Check with your doctor if any of these most common side effects persist or become bothersome: Dizziness; lightheadedness; sensitivity to sunlight. Continue to take Furosemide and talk to your doctor if you experience dry mouth or increased thirst, headache, dizziness, or lightheadedness, constipation, increased sensitivity to sunlight, a rash, jaundice (yellow skin or eyes), ringing in the ears, nausea, easy bleeding or bruising, or numbness in the hands or feet. This drug may cause following serious side effects: an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, closing of the throat, swelling of the lips, tongue, or face, or hives), muscle cramps or weakness, an irregular heartbeat, abdominal pain or diarrhea, low blood pressure (weakness, dizziness, fatigue), or decreased hearing. Symptoms of overdose may include dehydration, electrolyte imbalance (weakness; drowsiness; severe or persistent dizziness; muscle pain or cramps; unusual thirst; dry mouth; unusual tiredness; racing heartbeat; excessive urination; restlessness; irregular heart rhythms; severe or persistent nausea or vomiting); low blood pressure. Precaution

Do not stop taking Furosemide suddenly, even if you feel better. Stopping suddenly could make your condition worse. Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with Furosemide.

Missed dose

If you miss an Furosemide dosage, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

Storage

Store Furosemide at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Store away from heat and moisture in a tight, light-resistant container. Exposure to light may cause a slight discoloration. Do not take discolored tablets. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Furosemide out of the reach of children and away from pets.
